Serious speech mistakes can lead to miscommunication since poor pronunciation abilities make it difficult for other people to hear what you are saying. Additionally, students may miss their lecturers' direct explanations of proper pronunciation when taking online English lessons with inconsistent Internet access. Proper pronunciation can help students participate in conversations, form connections, and improve graduates' employability abilities. Furthermore, pronunciation skills are learnt independently at higher education institutions. Before designing a web-based tool for self-directed learning of English pronunciation, the designers must get feedback from the students about their self-directed learning, self-evaluation of English language proficiency and English learning experiences through Online Distance Learning (ODL). This survey is a preliminary survey towards the development of a heutagogical English pronunciation application. An online questionnaire was disseminated to 424 respondents from various higher education institutions in Malaysia. In this survey, firstly we aimed to get feedback from the students about their self-directed learning, self-evaluation of English language proficiency and English learning experiences through Online Distance Learning (ODL). The survey consisted of demographic data of respondents, standardized test of English language proficiency, self-evaluation of English language proficiency and English language learning experiences during COVID-19. The findings suggested that although language learners have developed their self-directed learning skills, they still need to improve these skills in learning the language using ODL. Learners consider themselves as having average English language proficiency. They were responsible for improving their pronunciation skills and needed assistant tools to improve their pronunciation skills. It is recommended that an application that uses a heutagogical approach such as Speech-to-Text and Text-to Speech need to be developed.
Noorfaizalfarid Mohd Noor Latisha Asmaak Shafie Nuralya Maisarah Kamarulzaman Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 379 393 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.333 Comparison of Fuzzy Time Series and ARIMA Model for Predicting Stock Prices //
The stock market has always been a contentious topic in society, and it is a place where economic standards are established. The stock market is incredibly unpredictable and turbulent. This means that the shares may fluctuate for reasons that are sometimes difficult to understand. Due to this uncertainty, many investors believe the stock market as a risky investment. Therefore, having an accurate picture of future market environment is crucial to minimising losses. Forecasting is a technique of predicting the future based on the outcome of the previous data. There are a wide range of forecasting algorithms, however, this study only focuses on these two techniques: Auto Regressive Moving Average (ARIMA) model and Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) Model. The goal of this study is to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the ARIMA model and the FTS model in predicting sample data of stock prices of Top Glove Corporation Berhad since this company is the largest glove supplier in the world and plays a significant role in the Covid-19 global pandemic crisis. The error measures that were taken into consideration consist of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). These measurements were computed numerically and graphically using a statistical programme called EViews. The outcome shows that the ARIMA model performs better than the FTS model in terms of forecasting accuracy and provides the lowest values of MAPE, MSE, and RMSE, which are 10.58757, 0.926354, and 0.962473, respectively.
Nor Syazwina Binti Mohd Hanafiah Nor Hayati Binti Shafii Nur Fatihah Binti Fauzi Diana Sirmayunie Mohd Nasir Nor Azriani Mohamad Nor Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 366 378 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.332 e-Runner: A Mobile Application for Campus Food Delivery Service //
Nowadays, technology has played a vital role in revolutionizing the food delivery service and benefits the students, runners, and food outlets in many ways. Life as a student is known to be challenging due to academic load, assignment deadlines, bouncing back and forth to class, extra-curricular activities, etc. This is a typical daily scenario on campus that require good time management. In the preliminary investigation of this study, students prefer to take away their food and dine in their rooms so that they will not waste their time by spending too much time in the cafeteria. It is found that convenience is the prime factor for the students as the orders can be made as simple as a few clicks on any mobile device, and the food and beverages are delivered to their doorstep. Additionally, this can prevent them from spending too much or wasting time buying food. Since food delivery becoming popular and preferable recently, thus, this study is aimed to develop a mobile application named e-Runner for the campus food delivery system. Students can make a food order, check the order status, and view a variety of food and beverages from several food outlets. The modified Waterfall Model has been used as the methodology of this study and consists of 4 phases, namely Requirement Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Testing. The application has been tested using two types of testing; Functionality and Usability Testing. The testing results show that this application has many benefits, such as saving time, convenience and act as an all-in-one platform. Furthermore, it can enhance students' lifestyles and can improve customer experience.
Jiwa Noris Hamid Ammar Adnan Hawa Mohd Ekhsan Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 357 365 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.331 Determining the Criteria of Choosing Tour Packages in Langkawi Island Using FAHP //
Malaysia enters the endemic phase of Covid-19 on 1st April 2022. Currently, the increase in home breaking usually occurs during school holidays and public holiday seasons. Therefore, to overcome the problem and the main objective is to design and develop a low-cost home security notification system using PIR sensor to detect movement of intruders, Raspberry Pi Camera, GPS module integrated with Raspberry Pi Zero WH to send an alert notification message with image, date, location, and time via Telegram Bot to the house owner’s and people nearby through a smart phone. The system utilizes the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by implementing the waterfall model as the methodology. Three experiments were conducted to examine the effectiveness of the system which is sensor detection range, response time and user acceptance test (UAT). The finding indicates that the home security notification system was efficient, effective, low-cost, and easy to use. Besides, the system can detect the presence of the intruder and send the notification message in a reasonable time. Meanwhile, the result from the UAT indicates that the proposed system has a positive impact and to be well accepted by the majority of the users. Hence, the system can help the house owners to take immediate action such as calling the neighbourhood association or police department authority when the system detects an intruder in the house.
Mohd Nizam Osman Muhammad Haika Faeq Ismail Khairul Anwar Sedek Nor Arzami Othman Mushahadah Maghribi Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 327 337 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.325 A Systematic Literature Review: Optimization Timetable in Education to Support Work-Life Balance (WLB) //
Scheduling academic staff timetables is crucial and necessary to avoid redundancy and clash of class between teacher and student timetables. The problem addressed here is whether the Laplace transform approach is still valid for determining the characteristics of such a system in a fuzzy environment. In this paper, fuzzy Laplace transforms are applied to analyze the performance measures of a non-Markovian fuzzy queueing system FM/ FG/1. Starting from the fuzzy Laplace transform of the service time distribution, we define the fuzzy Laplace transform of the distribution of the dwell time of a customer in the system. By applying the properties of the moments of this distribution, the derivative of this fuzzy transform makes it possible to obtain a fuzzy expression of the average duration of stay of a customer in the system. This expression is the fuzzy formula of the same performance measure that can be obtained from its classical formula by the Zadeh extension principle. The fuzzy queue FM/ FE_k /1 is particularly treated in this text as a concrete case through its service time distribution. In addition to the fuzzy arithmetic of L-R type fuzzy numbers, based on the secant approximation, the properties of the moments of a random variable and Little's formula are used to compute the different performance measures of the system. A numerical example was successfully processed to validate this approach. The results obtained show that the modal values of the performance measures of a non-Markovian fuzzy queueing system are equal to the performance measures of the corresponding classical model computable by the Pollaczeck-Khintchine method. The fuzzy Laplace transforms approach is therefore applicable in the analysis of a fuzzy FM/FG/1 queueing system in the same way as the classical M/G/1 model.
Baudouin Adia Leti Mawa Rostin Mabela Makengo Matendo Jean Pierre Mukeba Kanyinda Bopatriciat Boluma Mangata Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 304 315 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.323 Simulation of COVID-19 Trend in Selangor via SIR Model of Infectious Disease //
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was initially reported in December 2019 in Wuhan City, China, as a result of a respiratory pandemic. Since then, the infection has spread rapidly and uncontrollably around the globe, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare it a pandemic. The study's overall objective is to imitate the COVID-19 infectious trend in Selangor. The SIR model is used to forecast infection and the course of COVID-19 diffusion and estimate the fraction of the population infected. As a result, the Susceptible, Infectious, and Recovered (SIR) model was used to accomplish the study's aims. From March 23, 2020, to June 30, 2020, 100 days of COVID-19 data were extracted from a database on the Malaysian Ministry of Health's website. The RStudio software was used to analyse data on infectious trends in this study. The SIR model is used to predict the basic reproduction ratio, , based on actual and simulated infectious trends for comparison. The value of the basic reproduction ratio for simulating the infectious trend is 2.0, and the basic reproduction ratio for modelling the infectious trend with the entire population of Selangor is 1.15429. According to the findings of this study, the reproduction ratio would affect the number of infected individuals by reducing the number of recovered individuals. The effectiveness of lockdown in preventing COVID-19 disease in Selangor was demonstrated by a significant reduction in the basic reproduction ratio, .
Suzanawati Abu Hassan Yeong Kin Teoh Diana Sirmayunie Mohd Nasir Nur Shamira Sharil Copyright (c) 2022 Journal of Computing Research and Innovation 2022-09-30 2022-09-30 7 2 294 303 10.24191/jcrinn.v7i2.322 A Comparative Study Between Holt's Double Exponential Smoothing and Fuzzy Time Series Markov Chain in Gold Price Forecasting //
Gold price is important to a country’s economy as it can be used as a hedge against inflation especially during financial turmoil. One of them is poverty. Due to this, Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) has taken the initiative to offer several financial aids to the affected students. However, the students must fill in the application form to obtain the aid. They need to provide the supporting documents such as parents pay slip, information on family dependent and so on, which will be inspected, graded and selected by the committee to determine the qualification for the financial aids. Due to this, it will be a long process to select the rightful applicants, which involves a significant length of time as it consisted of hundreds of applicants. Hence, the aim of this study is to select and rank the most eligible candidates among UiTM Perlis students with fairness, fast and accurate manner. In this study, the Fuzzy Technique for Others Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method was used to solve the problem. The model was run using Microsoft Excel. The selection of UiTM Perlis students were based on a set of criteria that had been predetermined which includes family income, occupation and the number of dependent in the family. The findings of the study showed that from 35 samples of UiTM Perlis students, the highest-ranking was student 35 (S35) with 1.0000 relative closeness. Meanwhile, the lowest ranking was student 30 (S30) with 0.6478 relative closeness. It is also shown that all samples are qualified to receive financial aid due to sufficient allocation amount provided by UiTM Perlis.
