ENSURE: A Seamless Endowment Scholarship Management System

Abstract

Scholarships are important for supporting students’ academic journeys; however, many institutions still depend on traditional manual processes, which are time-consuming, error-prone, and lack transparency, leading to inefficiencies in scholarship management and potentially hindering students' access to financial aid. Therefore, this study proposes to develop the ENSURE system, a holistic, web-based solution designed to digitise the endowment scholarship. An agile methodology will be employed to develop ENSURE, which consists of six phases: starting with planning, design, development, testing, release, and feedback. The system integrates eleven key modules: authentication, parameter setup, advertisement, instruction, student applications, shortlists, interviews, offers, scholarships, payments and reporting. The Perceive Ease of Use (PEOU) is used to measure the usability and comprehension of ENSURE. The results demonstrated a score 4.79 out of 5 based on the mean score. The system enhances the overall scholarship application process and serves as a model for other institutions that aim to modernise their scholarship management practices.
